It's interesting that Benjamin is listed as "Indian Chief, Cherokee Tribe" in this listing. We can see from his ministry letters and travels that he did indeed style himself as Chief Whitecloud, but whether or not he was really a chief is unknown. The article from Ohio, and recounts of his preaching in New York city make me think this was more for theater than reality, but there is no way to know. He was certainly a very interesting fellow!
